NEPENTHEAN HOMES FFA WILL BE ENDING ITS OPERATION ON DECEMBER 31, 2011.

FOSTER PARENT ORIENTATION:

If there are any questions about prospective foster parent orientation, please contact Rich Farlinger at (916) 993-7773 for direction on the process to apply to Triad Family Services for certification.

FOSTER PARENT TRAINING:

ATTENTION FOSTER PARENTS! As you know, 12 hours per year of foster parent training are required to maintain your certification. To help with this, we are now offering our 21-DVD Foster Parent College training set. These videos are available for viewing in-house at our Sacramento and El Sobrante offices OR we now offer home check-out. You may call either office to obtain a list of our titles, or to reserve a video. Each DVD is 30 to 45 minutes in length. Viewing only gives you one hour training credit; viewing plus taking the test gives you two hours training credit. For more information and to schedule your viewing time or reserve a video, please call the Sacramento office (916) 993-7776 or the El Sobrante Office (510) 222-2666.

This is a great way to get your training hours easily. Even if you have already completed your training requirement, you may get extra hours or supplement your training knowledge in a particular area. Foster families who are in the orientation process will also find this a valuable way to get information about foster parenting.

• We will be announcing news of upcoming foster parent trainings through Triad as a mailer to our foster parents.
  
  
• El Sobrante:

  "Massage for Children and Their Caregivers" on Wednesday, December 14, 2011, 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., at Children's Hospital, Oakland. Please RSVP to Peggy Pearson at (510) 428-3783, ext. 5326. (Sorry, no childcare is available!) PLEASE NOTE: There will be NO MEETING on Wednesday, December 28, due to the Christmas holiday!

(REMEMBER, YOU MUST HAVE AT LEAST 12 HOURS OF FOSTER PARENT TRAINING PER YEAR TO MAINTAIN YOUR CERTIFICATION!)

  Support meetings for Adoptive Parents will be held on the 2nd Wednesday of each month. PLEASE NOTE: There will be NO meeting in December due to the holidays.

  FEE: $30.00 per person for foster parents residing outside Nevada County. (Must be prepaid to confirm your reservation!) No cost for Nevada County foster parents.
  Certification for the First Aid/CPR class is valid for two years.
