“TO PROVIDE QUALITY CARE THAT MAKES A POSITIVE DIFFERENCE IN THE LIVES OF NEEDY CHILDREN”
Nepenthean is a resourceful, experienced team of social service professionals that are committed to the most positive outcome possible for each child in care. Nepenthean social workers have field experience and hold a graduate degree in the social sciences.
Nepenthean Homes creates a care network for the foster family and child that result in impressive percentages of successful, long term placements, adoptions and reunifications. Four office locations; Fair Oaks, Auburn, Oakland and Modesto in an 18 County area provide an effective support/training system to the foster parents certified to provide care. Over twenty hours per year of formal foster parent training helps Nepenthean foster parents develop into some of the finest, while quarterly staff training seminars and in-service educational programs ensure that Nepenthean’ personnel remain progressive and knowledgeable in their important work.
With a “Hands-On” approach to providing services to clients and children, Nepenthean social workers collaborate with county social workers, probation officers, teachers, school counselors, doctors, community groups, therapists, relatives, friends and all those responsible for shaping the foster child’s future. Whether it’s driving to a family visit, medical appointment, soccer game, or escorting a youngster to a review hearing, Nepenthean responds personally to each child’s needs.
Nepenthean is an active member of The Coalition of Foster Family Agencies (COFFA), East Bay FACT (Foster Agencies Coming Together) and the Bay Area Coalition of Foster Family Agencies, (BACFFA).
Nepenthean Homes-FFA has successfully held contracts with Sacramento County Probation Department, The Neighborhood Alternative Center, (NAC) as a child and family crisis resolution program and with the California State Regional Center program, caring for children with developmental disabilities. Nepenthean has also contracted with Stanislaus County to offer respite care for providers of children placed in County foster homes and receiving mental health services.
